So my chicks are about old enough to live in the coop but I can't stand the idea of them being out there at night or while we aren't home!! How have you delt with putting your babies out?

I go out and I sit with them every day. Sometimes for only a few minutes, sometimes for several hours. The interaction with them keeps the bond that you have already formed with them strong, not to mention that they are so entertaining to watch! I just moved a batch out into the Bantam coop recently, and I enjoy going out and sitting down with them. They all come running to sit with me and get snuggled, I love it. A few of the adult birds have even decided that they are jealous, so the moment a baby leaves my lap, one of the adults jumps into it! So I get to dish out lots of love, and it makes me feel better about moving them out there. I have another group almost ready to head outside. They are so big in their brooder now, and most are almost completely feathered, so in another week or so, out they go. And I'll be out there snuggling and playing with too. It's what a good mommy does, lol.
