how do you get rid of ANTS naturally? help please!

my whole chicken run is covered in biting red ants! how the heck do I get rid of these ants naturally. no my chickens aren't eating them they were biting my chickens! I have a small flock of only four birds so I brought the birds inside where I have a HUGE set up for brooding. they will be comfortable in there but how do I get rid of these pests? I sprinkled DE all over the pasture but the ants just are walking around like nothing.. does DE kill ants if yes how long does it take? PLEASE HELP

Agricultural lime is what i use in my ground brooders, it has to be redone after it gets wet from the rain but it helps in keeping things clean and ants hate it. 7 dust works well also.
