How do you get rid of unwanted male chicks

Honestly, if you aren't prepared to cull, I would recommend you not incubate. For me, that's akin to loving kittens and refusing to spay your cat, then complaining when every mongrel in the neighborhood gets her with a litter, providing many unwanted (and commercially worthless) offspring.

If you were in an area eager to rehome, or where there was a market for males, my opinion would differ, but your original post suggests that's not the case.

Apologies if I have misread your situation. Still on my first cup of coffee. Always blunt, however.
I think my point is, that since I am a minor who has never kept animals other than for pets, it’s a huge shift in my experience and it will take a lot of preparation and I will need to gain a bit more knowledge. I’m heading to a friend’s farm to help process their meat birds sometime soon to help me get the feel of it and learn how it’s done first hand.

Did I say something that upset you @Mother-Hen-Michele ?
Apologies if so!
no, you were lovely, I am just sad at the idea of the cull... I am the kind of person who wants all baby chicks to find a perfect garden where they can frolic and play and no one ever tells a rooster he cannot crow and no municipality tells you to 'get rid' of a baby because he is a boy. I know culling is necessary... it just makes me sad... ya know?🐣

I live in a municipality that did not have anti-boy rules when I arrived (a mere 12 yrs ago) and now forbids roosters...
