How do you go about creating these colors?

Dumb question: If you've got self blue, and can get columbian...can you make the color of the coronation Sussex?

Ooohhh it would be so pretty...but I have no idea how it works, as I'm a genetics dummy.

But isn't it basically lavender columbian?

Oh, and thanks for posting pictures of your runs. We need to get down to building some serious runs around here, and yours look like what I have in mind (but haven't been able to explain to my husband). We will need to make housing a little more weatherproof, as we do get a little cold/nasty winter weather here, but what you've got there would pretty much fit the bill for us! Are they 4' X 8'?

Those are 4 wide 12 deep, 4x4 house, 1/2 the run covered with tin.
And yep, we are fortunate not to have bad winters, so no real need to fully inclose them.
I will be happy to post more pics if it'll help you, these work very well. the run is 12 pens long, and the houses are on both sides, to save on expense and share the center, basically a 24 x 48 pen split down the middle w/ 12 pens on each side for optimin use of space and materials..
As for the genetics question, maybe someone will say on that, I am just learning all that stuff myself, would be nice to have though!

Sorry, I dont have any to spare at the moment. We usually sell them all as eggs or chicks, and I kept back a lot of them this year too , so I could have some to play with with this project.
I think on last count, I had 178 d'anvers here.
I should have plenty though come spring!

I can put you in my book if you'd like.
Once I put them up for sale, They go like crazy. That's one thing about these, once you see one, you're in love with them.
So we have never had trouble moving them, usually dont have any past 1 day old here, unless I am keeping them back for myself..

Havent heard back from Tim,
was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for the red pyle, goldneck, and lemon millies
I have o.e. 's in the goldneck and pyle, well cockerels.
Probley the quickest way to go would be an out cross I am thinking, then breed back to correct the breed, selecting the best strongest color pattern and d'anver traights each go round, Any thought? And to what color, since d'anver white is apparently recessive?

Hi Aubrey, I'm waiting on Tim to return a PM too.

I would think you can cross to the mille fleur d'Anvers for the golden necks, but I'm not sure. Tim said that Speckled Sussex (which are a MF color) would work, but he said the MF Cochins were recessive white. I think the MF in d'Anvers would be closer to the MF in SS, so they may work, IDK. Hopefully we'll both hear from Tim soon.
