How do you help your flock with heat?

After approx 2 pm, their run is fully in the shade, so I’ll take dry pellet feed and add water. Lots of water -then toss some whole grain feed on top for interest. If it’s really hot, I’ll add ice cubes to it so they will melt while the chickens are eating their wet mash. They LOVE it, and they are getting proper feed.

of course, they sometimes get cold or frozen melon rinds to peck at, or cold cut up grapes/berries.

but, I find giving them wet cold mash, helps with egg production too. When they are really hot, they don’t do much, includeing drinking a lot water, so egg productions suffers. But, as soon as I begin giving wet mash, within a few days egg production picks up.
