Welcome to BYC!

You can use running fans, hose down their shade or run, put ice in the water, feed them cool treats. I use sand in my run and my birds stay extremely cool when I hose it down and use fans.

Here is a thread that is current on keeping your birds cool in this summer time heat....

Good luck with your hens throughout this summer heat and welcome to our flock!

Yah I was going to say a big chunk of ice for them to peck at, I've heard of centering the water dish on something in a puddle or wading pool. Also they love water melon.

X2 on what above posters. Big bowls of cool water are also good so the chickens can dunk their heads and stand in it. Also, frozen foods are good. Hanging water jugs in the coop with a fan blowing on them will keep them cool also.

Thank you for your advice!!! I will definitely try the frozen watermelon!:yiipchick

Two Crows gave you some great ideas .......

The biggie is plenty of shade and clean fresh water ......

A wet area for them to sit on and you could go to the local seconded hand store a get a blanket and put it on the ground where they like to sit around and get the blanket daily for them to sit on .........
