on a serious note...
Well I can completely relate to pretty much everything you just wrote. I even have that friend that will only call or text the cell and never the house line. I also live in an area where there is no cell reception. A month ago I had a friend here too that couldn't get his cell working and that is all he could talk about. Then because his cell wasn't working felt the need to go on my laptop without even asking, yes family friend, but still come on, he came here to visit and have coffee with us, so we thought.
I am never on the phone I dislike talking on phones because I find it very impersonal. Chat messaging isn't for me either, I much prefer to call a friend and invite them for lunch or coffee or what ever and then talk in person. but in truth be told the ones up here in this community that I thought were my friends won't get off their laptops to make time. so now I don't bother at all with them. In fact I ran into one of them this morning, and the first thing she said was, you know if you ever wanna chat you can message me on facebook I am always logged in. NO thanks....I told her I hated chat and left it at that.
I really enjoy my laptop, my cell is for emergencies only, but I much prefer to be outside working about my place and playing with my kids. the only time I am on the laptop a lot is winter, because its so darn cold around here and there is not much to do outside with all that snow.
I don't go to bars either and I rather go bowling with the kids than someone's house party where everyone will be drinking anyhow. I don't like big shopping malls or going to concerts, I like theatrical plays and musicals, well all my friends are mostly interested still at 32 yrs old, with Friday night parties, shopping sprees and hard rock concerts. that is just no me. The minute the snow is mostly gone you will find me somewhere outside with knee high rubber boots on with my dogs and kids, that is what keeps me grounded. not having internet, or cell reception doesn't stress me out, unless I have a flat and I am stuck, what stresses me out s having to drive through a massive city.
