How do you know when?

I have 2 Button Quail (I did have 2 females but something got the one)
Since the one female was killed my a preditor, the guys I got them from gave me a male to go along with the female I have.. I havent gotten any eggs out of the female for the past month but she keeps getting in her food dish and winging all the food out and just sitting in it, She also does the same thing in the brooder with the bedding, she'll lay down an fluff all of the bedding out of the circle an just lay in it... How do you know when I Button Quail is ready to lay or whatnot... (btw she's about 3 months old)

Well it's a good thing you have a pair since button quail are monogamous and happiest in pairs. Your hen will lay when ready. The predator may have stressed her out which may delay laying.

So they'll be staying inside the house at night for now on!! And I only lost the other female last Monday morning..
