How do you make OSB (strand board) coops 'pretty'

I stained mine first with one coat, then put the battens on and stained the whole thing twice more. I painted mine Red Baron Red with white trim around the door and windows.
I wish I had put a primer on first but the paint store guy said I didn't have to, hhmmm think he was wrong. It used to much of the solid stain.

My coops have held up very well considering I live in the rainy PNW. We have used OSB in some of the horse run in shelter walls and so far so good. It has held up very well considering it is going on 6 years now.
We used the saw mill off cuts (slabs) from cedar logs to side the horse shelters. I nailed them on the vertical. I put one row of large rock at the bottom, so the slabs sit on it instead of close to the ground. They look like log buildings.

This coop is made with OSB that we added on to a shed We just painted it with exterior yellow paint

I have never used OSB but was thinking I would on my next doghouse and breeding pens. I was hoping to get thicker wood that way but if I have to buy stain and paint then it may be just as costly to go with plywood and paint.
Decisions, decisions.....

I used Home Advantage (Advantek) on the floor of my 8' x 10' coop I'm building; floor is all I've got done so far. I've been pondering on what siding I'll use and am leaning toward T-111 or a hardboard sheet of some sort. The Home Advantage was around $19/sheet and T-111 is around $24. The T-111 looks better and wouldn't require any batten boards for looks. I think the OSB might work for some folks, depending on what you're trying to achieve, if you paint/stain it well so it holds up over the long term.

Primer and paint is they way to go. It is best to do all 6 sides if you can. Seals it up to prevent moisture from penetrating.
Water will go around corners and uphill to ruin your wood if you let it.

Vinyl siding. It take just a half day to do.
And marital relations continue well because there are no complaints about ugly sheds in the backyard.
