We have a silkie that has just gone broody and she refuses to be moved off her nest. What do you use to mark the eggs so you know which ones have been laid by another hen and can be collected. I heard that sharpies can leach chemicals through the shell.

Most people use sharpies or black magic markers without problems.

I used pencil on the last lot and it all rubbed off under the hen. [IMG] This time I'm using sharpie.
    Good luck!

I've used sharpies for years with no problem.
