Writing on eggs

I used sharpie b/c I can't ever seem to find a pencil... Anyhow, the first hatch I used a green sharpie and hatched out 100%, the second had messed up humidity but the sharpie didn't affect that hatch either and I have duck and chicken eggs in the bator now written on w/ sharpie and they are developing wonderfully!

I don't fear the Sharpie...

I use a pencil because of the dire warnings I've read about markers leaching through the shell and killing the embryo.

After reading everyone's replies, I think I'll start using a sharpie - it sure would be easier to see!

Now that I think about it, the sharpie solvent evaporates almost instantly so it wouldn't have time to migrate through.
