Writing on eggs

Hi! I mark all my eggs for hatching with a black Sharpie Permanent Marker.

I think the 'warnings' about using markers on eggs came from the days of those noxious Magic Markers (I think that's what they were called. You remember the ones that would stink up the room as soon as you took off the cap?) I don't doubt those were toxic, hahaha, they *smelled* toxic.

After last nights egg collection and seeing 4/15 on one of the eggs this morning, we're abandoning the grease pencil and the regular pencil.

Eight hours of being cold at two weeks of development - can't imagine there's a chance for this egg to hatch.

you must be using a different kind of grease pencil, mine is as dark as a sharpie. Someone may need to remember thier glasses next time the go to collect eggs.

I would put the egg back and wish for the best. I have had them hatch after momma got back on wrong nest, and eggs that are spose to be hatching are left uncovered most of the day.
