How do you pronounce chicken names?

I’m pretty sure duh-uncle is wrong. My brain just adds an n for some reason. Then I realize there isn’t an n and stutter over the word. I think your way for saying Wyandottes makes more sense than mine. I add another n to that one too. Maybe sah-gitt-us. They both sound really similar.
Why are chickens so confusing. It's confusing.

Some of the breeds I have
ISA brown -eesa brown
Australorp- Aw-stra-lorp
Wyandottes- why-en-dots
There are some more but they’ve got pretty self explanatory names 👍

I just looked up D'Uccles yesterday because I KNEW my head was pronouncing it totally wrong, and I want to get some Porcelains.

Thanks for this thread, although we all know the chickens don't care what we call them, as long as we continue to call them to their feed dishes.

There’s a lot of how do you pronounce threads on here but I wanted to do on all the chicken names. As a chicken newbie the names of some breeds are pretty hard to pronounce. I’m looking at you Wyandottes.

I also have been saying ISA browns wrong this whole time. It isn’t I.S.A browns, it’s eesaaa browns. 🤦‍♀️ The letters were all caps so I thought you said them individually.

Clue in a newbie on some of the trickier breeds to say. Some of the ones I stutter over are sagitta, barnevelder, d’uccle, and many more.
D´Uccle ~ Dew-cluh

Dew-cluh is the French pronunciation. D´ means from. Uccle is a municipality in Brussels, Belgium. D´Uccle means from Belgium. Belgium has 3 official languages, Dutch, French, and German. I am not sure of the German and Dutch pronunciations. D´Uccle is pronounced however Uccle is pronounced. Barbu D´Uccle means Bearded from Uccle.

I say doo-clays.

Thank you for the information. It’s always interesting to learn where names of breeds come from.

That actually might be my new favorite pronounciation for D’Uccle. Doo-clays. Makes more sense than what I’ve been saying anyway.
