How Do You Say The Word, Our

I am from Michigan. I say "our" and "ours" both ways. I think it depends on the context of the sentence and also the speed at which I'm speaking.

The "dinner" thing had me totally confused when we moved south. If "dinner" is lunch, then what is lunch?
And I'll have a can of pop, thank you.

The food itself would take up a whole thread!

Real southern food is wonderful.

NOT in Tennessee! Especially if you eat kosher

Honestly- the restaurants HERE (not talking Chattanooga) have the most terrible food. They can't even make a proper grilled cheese. We went out to breakfast one time, and I ordered my usual -scrambled eggs, hashbrowns with cheese, and toast. The waitress says "No meat?" and I say "No- I don't eat pork, thank you". So they cooked my "sheet" of scrambled eggs in bacon grease.

Sorry- I could go on for DAYS!

However- I would love to go to Savannah or New Orleans and completely binge.

No, no, no... you have this lunch/dinner thing all wrong. Let me explain... if it is a weekday and I'm eating a small meal around noon then I'm having lunch. After that meal I'll have supper, the last meal of the day. However, if it is on a Sunday and I'm going to "Grandma's" house, for example, to eat the second meal of the day, that is dinner, or Sunday dinner to be exact... and we normally eat so much of it that a later meal is not necessary.

Here is how I define the meals...

Breakfast
or
Brunch, if combining breakfast with lunch

Lunch
or
Dinner, if it's a very big meal that results in not needing an evening meal

Supper
or
Dinner, if it is a big or more formal meal

Haven't had it yet- I have seen a Tennesse wedding cake

. One little diner has something called "pig pickin" cake. I asked what it was. After the lady described it to me I said- "Oh- kinda like a cassada cake without the custard" and she looked at me like I was an alien.

ETA- Thanks Robin'brood! Don't want to steal any more of this thread
