How do you sex a 3 week old GL Wyandotte Chick

am not so sure what the reliability is on this is as a gender guesser but.....
the tail of the chick in question is pointing upwards, from personal experience have always found that to be a roo trait; had researched that first before coming across it.
developing the wattles/crown quicker is a common roo trait to but that does depend on the breed and chick though its also worked with mine [marans, light sussex and cochins] so far.

nice to hear of someone being positive about a roo, they are far to underrated.
they may not lay eggs but they are great friends if they understand the 'pecking order',and are good security.
the maran and light sussex roos of mine do have a special noise reserved only for people they dont recognise, but they do have a more stable sounding call when they see anyone they know go outside for cigarette as they want attention off them.
the boys want more attention and cuddles than the girls. :D

I'm confused as to why your post says it's urgent that you find out the gender? Don't roosters/pullets start mating around 4 months of age? If they're 3 weeks old now, then any roos will have another 3 months (about) before they start thinking about getting jiggy with the pullets - right? How come it's urgent that you find out? Is something wrong with the chick? Is it sick, etc? =(

It is urgent because I live in Australia and I am in a council
that don't allow roosters but I am lucky because I live near a
State Park so I am allowed also an UPDATE: We may have
to roosters and I am looking to get a couple of polish chickens

Hi
I am now really sad as my family say I can't keep him and I am sad because I raised him and he lost
the pecking order to the other rooster Cosmo! Checkers is now scared to come out into the yard and so I have to get him out.
He eats and drinks finely and his very friendly and will do anything for a cuddle but now he is totally scared, I will post a video of it.
My family says it is better on a farm but I can't let him go. They want to replace him with a polish chicken hen. But I don't have a choice of
wether to keep him or not

. He was such a gorgeous boy. But don't cry yet he maybe staying. Cosmo is really aggresive and fights with
the others but Checkers was laidback and when I called " Where is your girlys'' he would run after them. I will just have to find out at the 10th week . Checkers was a very tame and I just hope I can keep him

Guys can you please keep posting and telling me the gender. I am going to post a video of him and takes some photos!

P.S You are doing a great job and lets hope he stays with the family

You guys have me really worried because all eight of my baby chicks look like this to me, except all different colors. My black ones have white and yellow tips on their feathers though. My yellow chicks have brown and gold feathers, and my one white has brownish colors in its feathers. Geez, I'm so confused. How old are they usually when you can tell for sure?
