How do you sex silkies?

The person who bred these silkies says that she gets an egg a day from her hens as long as they aren't broody. I really hope to get one of her hens!

Wait till they crow, lay or just get really big like my latest Silkie rooster. I swore I had all girls till he grew to be 3 times larger than my other silkies the same age. Silkies are a gamble but worth it

Oh I know! I am so addicted to Silkies. I have black, white, partridge, blue....want more, lol. I really don't need anymore chickens, lol but I had to get a little white Silkie at the feed store a couple weeks ago because it was just so cute!

I have decided to keep my rooster because he is very calm and only crows in the morning. He will live in the garage at night and go out with the ladies during the day. The last Silkie roo I had crowed every 20 minutes...he had to go to a new home

We got 4 silkies last year. Two walked around a lot more upright then then other two. Those upright ones ended up being roos.
Granted thats based on my 4

If you guess wrong, don't worry, at least two licensed judges did also. However, he crows, he dances and otherwise protects his ladies. I have several sons and daughters from him. Nothing small about the crest on this boy!
