When it's really hot, I put a fan in the windows to draw out stale air. I also give them foot baths when it nears 100 and beyond.
In winter, I add just enough heat for roosters that the frostbite is limited. I try to keep buildings with mature Mediterranean roosters above 10F.
We feed all of our leftovers but with sometimes nearing 100 chickens, they each don't get much.
Giving too much isn't a good thing. Bread can be pretty high in salt and not particularly nutritious.
If you are giving a lot of fruit, vegetable and bread type treats to a few hens, you could be cutting the crude protein intake significantly.
