Your best system depends on how much feed you use and where you have to store it. All of mine is stored in my workshop in galvanized metal trash cans. I pour it in, three bags or so to the can and in two weeks I'll have emptied them again. Keep the cans up off the concrete floor. I lay down bricks then run boards on top of those. The cans are on top of the boards. Feed cans should not be kept directly on the floor so as to prevent preferential condensation.
Thanks for all your input guys! I think I'm gonna go with the galvanized trash can storage (although I wish I had an old refrigerator handy!!). Thanks Alan for the suggestion to get it up off the floor...I'd keep it in my mudroom which stays very cool and has a concrete floor. Good thinking!

I use galvanized cans too. Our "feed room" is a section of the woodshed so it's on raised wood, not on cement. One for layer feed, one for scratch feed. Also, I keep grit and oyster shell there.
I have galvenized cans also, but we caulked the handle through the inside and out to prevent any water leaking in, and then we bought bungie cords and from the handles to the handle we lock them ....as one day we went out, and one of the lids was off. So far its helped and no problems, but I empty my bags into them...
We have two small metal trash cans that we keep in each coop. One holds feed and the other has scratch. We pour it straight into the can (no bag), and we can fit most of a bag in a can. We usually just set the remainder of the bag on the floor beside the can. We've never had a problem with mice, because the food is in the coop, and our girls will kill the mice. We also keep two full sized metal trash cans in our barn where we store extra bags of feed, dog & cat food, and birdseed.
