How do you supplement protein if you feed Purena

Chickens are not vegeatarians. They are omnivores.

If you want to raise chicks I suggest that they be allowed feed with less soy and more animal proteins. By the way the animal proteins being used now is generally a fish by product.

If you can quote your source I'd appreciate it. My research shows that most feed companies use ruminants AKA cows. I couldn't find any (about a year ago) that touted anything except of course Purena.

I've got no reason to avoid cow protein except that 1 it is covered in cow poop and spreads disease like crazy. 2, it is so injected with hormone boosters and antibiotics that I wouldn't allow anything I was going to turn to food, eat it.

BTW, I know chickens are NOT vegetarians that of course, is the primary reason I'm trying to figure this out.

I appreciate your help.

I feed Purina Start and Grow with no animal protien. My reasoning behind this is because of where said animal protien in feed comes from. The recent massive egg recall do to salmonella only backed up my decision on what to feed my chickens. As far as suplimenting protien, I offer things like BOSS, yogurt, soy, millet, cracked corn, broccoli, and occasionally hard boiled eggs that have been pulsed through the food processor. My chickens also have a fairly large run where they scratch up worms, grubs, and other insects.

Dave,
I agree with pips&peeps in that the animal proteins being used now is generally a fish meal.
Now some like Buckeye feeds use Porcine Meat Meal (pork)...

I have yet seen a feed that in the ingredients list it has just ruminants.
So that you know ruminants/ ruminant does not mean Cow..
The three most common ruminants animals are cattle, goats, sheep.
A cow is a female bovine that has freshen.
