How do you tell if you have ADD?

Had my hubby take the test and he mostly says rarely and I go neeeeeep! (loser game sound) and he grinned and gave me the finger every time I do that when the questions were asked.

I know he was lying about the answers and I dont think he can be honest with himself and if we go to they pyschologist, he would lie to that doctor as well. Dont they interview the wives too? I would hate to see it a one side view when I know well it is not true.

My family counselor thinks he has it but she can not make a correct DX of it unless the MD has diagnosed it. She has worked with ADD patients as well. So that is one way of looking at it.

As for my DD, she may or may not have it but she is alot like her father, her behavior and her temper tantrums (hubby has his rages). As far as her pre K teachers are concerned, she may or may not because she is not expressive in her language to make it understood how she is feeling or know what she is doing wrong even repeatedly NOT to do it.

I do wear glasses! I figure the hitting problems I'm having are just do to inexperience. I get my eyes checked every August before school starts; I'll ask about "tracking" then. Maybe that is why i don't like reading. (I definitely think we're on to something here.) Of course, i don't think that explains my attention span being short during speeches/lectures.

Is it *some* teachers or all? At the risk of being dragged into the cafeteria and beat by fellow teachers... some are simply boring.

If you have a learning style that does not fit thier mode of teaching (example, I'm auditory if I can HEAR you, I can repeat it back to you, my eyes may glaze over, and it looks like i'm staring into space, but really I'm focused on your words and ignoring what I see). My husband, you can tell him something 20 times, but untill he does it, or writes it down, he will not grasp it, for him he has to interact somehow to really understand something. If it's only some of the teachers that aren't engaging you, I'll gently suggest the problem isn't with you. Also how busy are you? in people who try to multitask too much (say cheer & Tennis & volleyball & school), simply having too much on the plate can lead to inattention and distraction.

Well i read all the posts and I don't think i have it really. I have had a few experiences where its like watching a thousand channels inside my head, but only when i was either trying to sleep or just sitting doing nothing. I normally zone out a lot with my history teacher and my band director, both of whom get distracted during speeches so they add in about 30 min of info that have nothing to do with what i need to know. Will multi-tasking hurt me any? Freshmen year i took Debate, competitive math, and marching band. All of which involved me going to school on the weekend. I had no free Saturdays until February some time. Sophomore year i took it a lot easier because its supposed to be the hardest.
