How do you tell the difference between hen and rooster when they're chicks or older.

I'm hatching chickens.
I need to know how to tell the difference between hen and rooster as they grow so I can separate them.

Unless you have sex-linked or autosexing breeds, you'll be able to tell the difference when they are around 6-8 weeks old. Males will grow big, red combs and wattles, while the females' combs and wattles will stay small and pale until they start laying.
At around 12 weeks, the males will also start to grow their pointed saddle and hackle feathers.

I'll try to put photos. If I can't put them here, I'll start a new thread.
