How do YOU winterize your coop?

Pics
:thumbsupOkay just looked up mites and temperatures they can survive. Adults will freeze and die. Eggs can survive in 0 degree weather but won’t hatch until warmer weather.
So I will continue to use straw. A good spring cleaning should do the trick. One of The preps I do before winter truly sets in is a good cleaning. So I’m thinking I’m good to go.

Its nice to see other peoples ideas as the materials change. The pen in the pic is 6x6x5 tall. 2x4 wood base and 2x4x6welded wire. The way its bent gives it support and the roost poll helps. Just be sure to leave plenty of room for them to flap there wings while on roost
@hillbilly91 I have a similar build to yours and was wondering what you do about the 'floor ' of the coop and water/moisture? Mine gets water logged quickly and I don't want my girls to be wet. I move it around but it only does so much. Especially if we get a lot of rain. I am in the Midlands of sc so similar weather!

I just keep it moved as much as possible and you can add some straw if you need

I forgot to add, I plug my heated waterer up in the winter- it does wonders! I used to try and just bust the ice out of a plastic waterer, oh, if only I'd known! I have 30 chickens, and all I do is run an extension cord out, plug it up, and it lasts for 3 or 4 days! Never again will I go through a winter without a heated waterer ;)
