Im very attached to my garden too!

Hehe - thats Ok, on the 27th March 2009 was our 5th Wedding Anniversary
and we were so proud because we had been frantically trying to grow ANYTHING
the whole time we had been married (hence the photos) -
we had even killed a cactus,
and we had a bamboo plant for THREE YEARS that everyone told us not to plant as it would grow rampant...
and you guessed it, in three years it grew a grand total of 3cm (1.5" - yup, INCHES)

... funnily enough the chooks were my hubbys anniversary present from me and arrived the week or so after

I have gotten such an up from everyones post's. I have places to set and watch my kids, all around outside and inside the pen. I am so glad to hear that so many folks think that chicken watching is a wonderful thing. My DS does not like chickens. He says that when he was little, the chickens chased and pecked him. They scared him. He can't understand how I think they are cute and funny. When he comes over, that is where he finds me. Watching and having a conversion with my kids and baby kids.

I thought that when I saw Mr. Peep, pick up a nice strawberry, make a little calling noise to his favorite girl and she came running to him he held up the berry and fed it to her. She ate the whole berry out of his beak.

Mr. Peep gets the nest fixed just right for his girls. He will not let them in the nest unless he says it is good, by getting out at long last. He will even sing the egg song. I began to wonder if he wanted to be a hen and lay an egg.

The new kids I have are Frizzle, 3 black and 3 white. I put things for them to play on in the cage. Like, a low roost bar, it goes all the way across the cage. A block of wood, a little log going up to the roost. At the entrance, butted up to a kids plastic play house coop door. There is another small log at the playhouse door. They are so funny . Jumping up on the log tight rope walking on it and jumping/flying into the cage. Run under the roost bar, run up the log to it, tight rope walk down it. Fly across to the block, back down on the floor out of the cage and turn around and do it again.

:lau:lau:gig:gig:gig I just crack up. The babies have been sorting out the pecking order. My little black Roo, Batman is bossing everybody around. My Little Silkie, Roo, Louie Lu Li is contesting the Batman's pecking at him, The fight is on. then they make up, get hungry, eat like crazy, talking all the time. Nap time!

Everybody lays down, sleeps a little bit. Then, they do it all over again,

Pati,
It sounds like you have a very gentlemanly rooster! What breed is he?

When I was deciding which roosters to keep and which to eat, guess where the ones went who pushed the hens out of the food
