How does one get started in Poultry Showing?

I think it would be fun to get into the hobby, but I don't want to be laughed out of the building. Any resources for getting started?

Do a search on here, there are tons of people that show birds. Obviously, you'd want to start with good stock, and something that is common (for competition) but not so common that you'll have 60 or more birds competing against yours at a small show (like white call ducks).

The best way to start showing is entering some birds. Get to know some of the other breeders, and they can help you out.

I've found that it's easier to get brids out of breeders if you are showing something. If there is a breed in particular that you really like, I would join the breed club if they have one.
