How does quail do for you?

How do quail work for you? I don't have quail, but i might get some someday, and I want to know how they are like.

I will say it definately depends on the strain you get. I got 2 seperate strains of coturnix and they couldn't be more different. One is quite calm and friendly and have never harmed each other, the other are quite violent. The second strain I started with 20, sold 4, processed 4 and am down to 4. The other 8 were all killed by their flockmates.

They lay decent the first year, haven't had them yet for a full 2.

I'm not an expert with those, but I do know that they need a bit more space and are best housed in bonded pairs.

Maybe @007Sean has an idea or knows someone else who might?

There are other breeds that make actual pets. Bobwhite is not one. I’ve had many.
