How early have your birds started laying?

I got my first eggs today and yesterday, the first I found was a full sized egg, the same as the eggs I bought from a friend, while waiting, and the one today, I went in to check on them and bring treats, and watched one of the girls lay a perfect pullet sized egg. They are 16.5 weeks old. A couple other girls were up and down from the shelves we have (DH hasn't gotten around to making the roosts, and he decided he wanted to leave the nest boxes open) they cuddle together on them at night. Almost all the chickens were on the floor when I slipped in with treats, but up on the top shelf was a girl looking very focused, after a minute, I looked up and watched the egg drop. They won't go outside till this afternoon, as the leghorns like to free range outside the run, and I don't want them laying eggs out there. I haven't found any, but I have a wide band of trees with a lot of branches behind the chicken run, and I can't get in all the places they like to go.

One of my Leghorns started laying 11/16 at about 23 weeks old and on 11/17 I had a brown egg from a girl who won't show herself to me yet! Ever since the 17th I have been getting 2-3 eggs per day. Both of my Leghorns are laying now and I think I have two different ones laying the brown eggs because they are totally different shades but I have 9 that are supposed to lay brown eggs so I'm not sure which girls are giving me these beauties!! It was like Christmas day for me and the kids getting our first egg!!

Update on our chickens/laying - the gold silkie started laying in october, the white silkie started laying just a couple of weeks ago - despite the white one not being a bantam the eggs are only just a little bigger !! Our Pekins went broody a little while ago and have not laid since - but perhaps the short days are having an effect - at present the silkies are by far the best layers (apart from the ISA brown who has laid more consistently than any- although even she is having a holiday from it at present!!)

@kittychook how old were your silkies when they started laying? I have a Partridge Silkie who we just love. I know they mature later but just curious how much later!

The white one was about 18 weeks on 17th August and just started laying a week or so ago ... The gold we were not totally sure of her age when we got her so I couldn't say. Our booted bantam is the oldest - about 10 months and still no eggs !!

Got the first egg when my girls were 19 weeks old. I have 3 Golden Buffs, 3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 Easter Eggers. The first egg was layed by one of the Golden Buffs. Today the girls are 28 weeks old and it was our first 9 egg day! Now I did suspect that they were all already laying but the brown eggs look a lot alike so it was sort of hard to tell. But today was confirmation that they are all indeed laying. Yay!!!
