I als have wondered the very same thing. I asked my friend "why don't they love me like I love them"? He say's they're just chickens. I also have given all my chickens names and I do believe that they respond to them after awhile. I have 2 leghorns and got them at the co-op they were the smallest that was in this huge box. I fell in love with them not knowing how big they would get. When I go into their coop they come to me, the male is more trusting than the female. The males name is Leg Horn and the female is Fog Horn, they are in a coop with several other different kinds of baneys, and the funny thing is they have all been raised by me and a light, at night they all except one lay under the 2 leghorns, and will get on their perch or roost during the day. I've had a blast trying to teach these babies how to roost. One of my leghorns likes to sit on my hand then walk up my arm and gets real comfortable on my shoulder, I wish I could stay around so he could sleep there all night but I do have a normal life "outside" of my little heaven I call a BARNYARD. I believe that my chicks are so friendly with me because I ALWAYS touch them while I am feeding them, they get excited to eat and i reach down and pick them up, sometimes 2 at a time and I always rub them on the side of my face and yes I kiss the top of their heads. I love my chickens like most people love their dogs, to me they are a beautiful work of GOD'S art. Call me crazy? Or just easily entertained? I know my chicks love me!!!!!!!!!
