how else can i make my chickens love me???

I second the RED folgers can idea. I have used both the red folgers can and the blue maxwell house can and they do notice the red faster.
I sometimes have the opposite problem with the Cornish X's. How do you get the meat birds NOT to be so friendly? lol, they'd be so much easier to process if they were mean tempered nasty chickens!

Sit with them, talk with them, hand feed them treats, try differant treats to see what they like. Mine love cheerios, peaches, and any bug that has the misforture to enter.Be patient and never get excited stay calm no matter what. When mine were 2 weeks old I did not think they were to fond of me.It was a nice day out about 85 so decided I will bring them out side and I put them in a makeshift playpen while I did some yard work. One managed to get out. I saw her passing back and forth in front of the pen trying to get back in. I was about 20 feet away and I called her. I said "Hey Snooky what are you doing" ( she is the smallest of my Jersey Giants) She turned came running right to me. You do not know how good that made me feel. Now they are 5 weeks and when I sit with I feel like the bag lady from Home Alone 2

funfeatheredfeet; you remind me of...well, me!

Its so nice to be able to enjoy the chickens by being part of each others lives, isn't it? I made it a point not to feed them from my hands so they would know that 'hands are for loving' and they would come to me calmly when they wanted loving. But if I walk out in the yard with a little plate (that their mashed up boiled egg treats are on) they are all around me in a heartbeat and its gone in seconds. My babies turn into veloceraptors! You would think they are starving and I assure you, they're not.

noodleroo, as usual, you are right on the money! I haven't had telly since we moved out into the country, but with the chooks on the table, I find myself staring at them for hours! It is like having a fishtank, but having the fish have most complex personalities and audacious attitude!
I'm (as always) glad I'm not the only one!

Bright Blessings

Well I think most of mine like me...all but one roo.
He avoids anyone and everyone.

I sit each evening right before they go to roost/bed. I have a little
foot stool low to the ground.
I put a towel in my lap (to avoid scratches) and just wait for them to jump in my lap.
The oldest of the group jump up first, the younger wait a few
mins for their turn to sit and be pet.
My buff orp rooster is the most friendly...
he and one of the buff hens like to sit on my shoulder or my head if I let them.

Today for the first time, my chickens actually came and sat on my lap and let me pat them. Actually, at one point they were on the arm of the chair and on my lap and shoulder, fighting for attention. That's my chicken owner's dream -- to have them be friendly and want to be with me. I always cluck to them, talk to them and bring them treats when I clean their coop, bring water, or just check on them morning, evening and in between. Today, when they heard my voice when I came home from work, they just started to run towards me. When I sat in a chair with some scratch in my hand, they just were all over me. Yipppeeeeee!!!!

Isn't this just great! Listen to all of us "clucking" about our chickens....(I'm smiling & chucklin' to myself). And, here my family laughs at me and how "all I do is talk about my chickens". I can't help it....and I have to say I love BYC. Look at all of us beautiful people sharing our problems (chicken probs.), experiences and knowledge. How great can it be! Funny, I've only had chickens about 2 months and in my past I have never had a full night of sleep....not without a sleep aid. And, since having these chickens......I don't know what has happened but I sleep like a baby now and don't have to have a sleep aid! That is for real!! What great Therapy my chickens are for me.....I cannot believe it and neither can my hubby. We all wonder how to make our chicken lives better and is it any wonder, look what they do for us! They bring us all together!

Oh, and one more thing.....Noodleroo, you mention you got rid of TV. Hubby has a giant big screen and had satellite and all....well, he got disgusted with finding not much he liked to watch out of all the hundreds of stations offered, he cancelled his satellite and said "Heck, let's just sit out back and watch the chickens. We get more entertainment out of them then we do this TV". I just about fainted!!
So, we do and enjoy the outdoors and the chicken antics, more than ever!!

I als have wondered the very same thing. I asked my friend "why don't they love me like I love them"? He say's they're just chickens. I also have given all my chickens names and I do believe that they respond to them after awhile. I have 2 leghorns and got them at the co-op they were the smallest that was in this huge box. I fell in love with them not knowing how big they would get. When I go into their coop they come to me, the male is more trusting than the female. The males name is Leg Horn and the female is Fog Horn, they are in a coop with several other different kinds of baneys, and the funny thing is they have all been raised by me and a light, at night they all except one lay under the 2 leghorns, and will get on their perch or roost during the day. I've had a blast trying to teach these babies how to roost. One of my leghorns likes to sit on my hand then walk up my arm and gets real comfortable on my shoulder, I wish I could stay around so he could sleep there all night but I do have a normal life "outside" of my little heaven I call a BARNYARD. I believe that my chicks are so friendly with me because I ALWAYS touch them while I am feeding them, they get excited to eat and i reach down and pick them up, sometimes 2 at a time and I always rub them on the side of my face and yes I kiss the top of their heads. I love my chickens like most people love their dogs, to me they are a beautiful work of GOD'S art. Call me crazy? Or just easily entertained? I know my chicks love me!!!!!!!!!

LOVE IT!! Our house loves chicken tv too!! Even our 15 yr old son who thought getting chickens was stupid! Now he saws they are cool!
I love to sit out with them and give them treats, they hear me open the backdoor and come running to the edge of the run...watcha got mama?? they love love the ice in a bucket with water poured on it for hot days!
have fun, spend time with them, feed them treats and they will love you!
I also have a stainless steel dish I put treats in...when they see that...man the high tail to the door hoping I have worms for them!
