How far will a chicken range?

I was just wondering how far chickens roam around. I have 110 acres for my chickens to roam around on but the down side is there are many coyotes that I have lost 3 or 4 cats to over two years and don't want my chickens in any danger. But on the bright side the coyotes keep their distance. They learned that after I took a few shots at one after coming to close to my horses (Don't worry, I missed) Thanks for all answers!

It depends a lot on what options the chickens have. Mine don't venture into woods but I've had to walk a quarter mile before to get them out of a winter wheat field. Right now mine never go more than 50 yards from home. That being said, if your landscape allows predators to sneak in close, they'll inch right in under cover and nab a bird!
