How far will the sound of crowing travel?

I hear a rooster in the area every morning and don’t know anyone else with chickens in the neighborhood other then a family who live about a mile and a half(May be a little less) away and on top of hill, the crow is very faint but my boy use to hear it and have crow outs.

I live in a busy suburban neighborhood about 1/4 mile from a major transportation corridor. I am considering getting a rooster. I am zoned for 1 but, naturally, I have to put consideration for my neighbors' above mere legality.

So here's my question: I want to inquire of the people who would likely hear my roo what their openness/objection to crowing might be. And I'm trying to determine which households to poll. So, how far do you think the sound of crowing would travel where there is fairly constant traffic and a hospital (with sirens) within 1/2-3/4 of a mile? It will help me determine which houses to poll.

Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise.

I confess to not reading every answer.

When I was in the country I could clearly hear my goofy bantam roo with his distinctive crow 3 miles away. I was at a filling station next to a busy highway and chatting with the attendant. I paused and grinned. She was confused about that until I told her I could hear my rooster 3 miles away.
She listened and we both had a good laugh BUT it was in the country so was expected.

Yes I am 100% certain it was my cute little Scooter doing his very sing song crow.

Yes 400 Meters I was assuming that was your unit of measure there in England. I lived in Germany for around 12 years of my adult life so can metric too! For an american. As an example driving at 240kmh it only takes 15 seconds to travel 1km.
Yes, I think the confusion came in with the capital M, if you would have written 400m or even more correctly 400 m (as to make sure it is not 400 milli something) it would have been clear.

The 400 m is about half of what I read elsewhere.

My question is, since we are on a hilltop, will the people on the next ridgeline over (1.6km) still hear (esp when the wind blows) my rooster at night?
