How friendly can Budgies from a pet store get?

You have your opinions, but my bird would disagree with you. She is quite happy to be alive, thank you. Not that I need to justify a dang thing to you, but she is able to move around with assistence and she has wings clipped(the way I was trained to by one of my many mentors in aviculture and avians in general) for her safety. By your logic, anyone in a wheelchair should be euthanized because it's "not really living" to not be able to walk.

Very pretty chicks, but I don't think someone on facebook is more qualified to judge what causes splay leg than literally every single other source(who "swear" that it can be caused by many things including genetics, new hens, lack of traction, lack of calcium, etc etc etc. ).. different cases have different causes is what I am getting at .

no need to be rude about it jesus christ I dont care what you do with your birds I would do my things differently I don't have time to cater to one bird if you do then fine you do that then and comparing animals to people like really they are not humans if they where in the wild they would have died nature wouldnt have it alive because it would die a terrible death. humans like to keep things alive for likes and views

If you want to purchase a budgie from a petshop to be a pet look for the youngest they have, a young budgie up to about 5 months will have dark eyes and barred cap (head) that extends down to their cere (nose) and in some cases darker beaks. these will be the easiest to tame. a bird thats 5-9 months will have a clear cap meaning no barring on the front of their head and they will have a faint iris, these will be harder to tame but with time can usually be done. I wouldn't choose a bird with a clear cap and bright white iris because these can be 12+ months and much much harder to tame.
This is bolt, a budgie purchased from a pet shop when she was 4 or less months. with time and plenty of treats she became hand tamed and allowed petting. she even ended up mimicking my lorikeet

it's possible to tame a bird from a pet store that has not been socialized but you will save yourself a lot of hassle and find it much more enjoyable if you find a private breeder who has handled the bird from an early age.

Please don't wing trim a bird with leg issues. Without the means to walk, that leaves them completely disabled.

Thanks for your input, but you don't know the specifics of my situation. Clipped wings is absolutely in the best interests of my bird.

Clipping one wing is disastrous in a healthy bird as is - totally unbalances the animal and prevents even fluttering. A fall for this budgie would probably kill it, as it would spiral in circles. I am not talking to the poster because I don't think they care, but this is animal abuse and if anyone reads this, please don't think that is acceptable.
