How Hardcore are your Chickens?

My Ladies laughed at 40-degrees-Farenheight rain this winter.

I don't know what's more hardcore -- Dumpling the Brahma with the water beading on her feathers as if she were half duck or Teriyaki who shrugged off getting her outer feathers soaked.

They could have gone into their bone-dry coop. They could have hung out under the picnic pavilion where the ground was wet but the rain wasn't falling.

They CHOSE to forage in the run in rain heavy enough to make taking a good picture impossible.

My birds like to stand out in the rain, & get soggy too. Not all of them do though.

The most hardcore chicken I've had was an aged Asil rooster that I fostered for a month. He looked like a naked-neck crossed with a T-Rex that had survived the apocalypse. He was all neck and legs and had no problem staring you down. He never attacked or acted aggressive but he'd walk up to you and stare right at your face. And at nearly three feet tall he was intimidating. The dogs avoided eye contact with him. He was placed with a breeder who appreciated his unique looks.
