How has your 2010 been?

Finances have gotten worse, but not because of the economy. Just stupid financial habits. Been lucky so far on most stuff. Much healthier now than at the beginning of the year. Family is great and our turkeys are mature now. Hopefully have lots of egg in a couple months. Then we'll see if all the hard work will pay off.

Nice post Coyote.

Any day now I expect to wake up not hurting anywhere-------Ahhh........Crapola, means I died in the night.

Seriously, still kicking, still cutting firewood, still collecting eggs, still giving the Kids my money.

This year has been all about change...and that's a good thing, right?

It certainly has been a strange year in a strange life, so I think that qualifies it as special and good in a way. I learned so much....learned to let go, learned to accept, learned to open my eyes and SEE how things really are, learned that nothing endures like God's love and it is always the North Star, ever constant and bright in my life!

I hope everyone has a great 2011!!!!

I've learned a lot this year. Not that I am an unsmart person but I guess I wasn't paying attention.

I was reminded, again and again, that open - honest communication really is the best thing ever!!!
I learned to follow my own advice.
I learned that sometimes divorce is the best thing that can happen to a family.
I learned that it really is as simple as believing in yourself.
I learned that if you don't create expectations then you won't be disappointed.
I reminded myself that good friends really do love you - No Matter What!
I learned that happiness is contagious.
I proved to myself I really can conquer any challenge, and look good doing it

And I was reminded time and again what really strong wonderful kids I have. They are bomb-proof in disasters and really fun to bum around with.

I met some BYCers, flew across the country alone (and loved it) survived getting mixed up on the Jersey turnpike, put 1200 miles on a rental car in less than a week, was introduced to chocolate gravy, watched the sun rise in the Blue Ridge Mountains, took my first cruise, explored Mayan ruins, swam with dolphins, and met the man of my dreams.

I'm going to start 2011 by moving my family into a cool new house, we are starting a new life with some interesting changes. I don't know that 2011 can come close to matching 2010 but I'm willing to give it my best shot.

Positive thoughts go out to you and yours.

Happy New Year.

2010 was supposed to be a "take it easy" kind of year but as usual I got myself into all sorts of projects: new coop, throwing parents 50th, starting up a dog rescue, etc...

Lots of ups and downs for sure. Through it all my marriage is the strongest it's ever been, my 5 kids are all in great health, my finances have been better-- but I'm happy to not be in the position that I see so many others in.

I'll do my best not to get in over my head in 2011. I plan on focusing on my faith and my family. Chickens have made my world a happier place and I'm glad to have discovered BYC and all of you!

DH lost his job is Jan 2010. SO the year has been a roller coaster. It was really scary at times. We have learned.

We learned that self sufficiency only works in a community.
Being prepared means not having to panic when things do go wrong.
Love that has faced adversity is stronger.
Like MIchelle said, children are more resilient than we give them credit for being.

You can get alot of food off of your land if you work really hard.
I learned how to can better and more efficiently.

I learned that my husband is the best husband and father ever, willing to do whatever it took to provide for us.

I learned what it was like to watch a good friend struggle through chemo and (so far) come out the other side.

So, we managed and we learned, but I honestly will be just as happy to see 2010 in the rear view mirror!

My extended family cannot wait to see 2010 end!
It's been a year of rough marriages, severe injuries and subsequent financial problems, excessive work stress and general mayhem!
Yeah, it could be worse. We didn't lose anyone and things are stable, but looking forward to settling down, healings, and recoveries.
Amen

2010 has been a good year for my family. Financially we are ahead of where we were last year. Immediate family is in apparent good health. The Princess still likes and loves me-amazing! Our son's MIL has been diagnosed with a terminal illness so that will present challenges in the coming year. I wish a healthy, happy, and blessed New Year to all of the BYC family. Sourland George.
