I use the vertical ones for my chicks but the horizontal for the older ones. I LOVE them!!!! The water stays clean so I am not having to change it a million times a day because they got crap in it. I got more actually for the brooder for this year since I will have more chicks than I had last year. plus I think I will put them around the run once the chicks are out there with the big ones so there are lots of watering places.
I do switch the nipples for cups in the summer since it is hotter out and I felt they may not have been getting enough water once summer came. I kept a couple of the nipples too so they didn't "forget" how to use them. haahaa.
