How is this duckling possible? (pics)

    I have a mixed backyard flock of 14, mostly magpies, covered by a magpie drake. None are crested. I have raised them all from ducklings and none have/had even a tiny crest. Yet here this little one is.

    I always thought crested was a dominant gene? I am baffled! I sold all the rest of this year's ducklings but just had to keep this little guy!

    That duck is awesome and you should feel awesome. I have a mallard with a crest, but I swear it just made her a target for our male pekin, because he'd always grab that fluff of feathers.

    Someone in the family must have had a crest. way back, Sure is a cutie.
