How is your flock today?

@BrooksHatlen Broodiness can be a catchy thing among the hen's at this time of the year. If your first hen goes broody, it's best to either break her of it, or if you want to let her hatch to separate her into her own section with her nest box of egg's. That way the other hen's cannot lay more egg's in her box, and when they hatch the other hen's can't try to eat them.

I just broke the same broody 2 times this year. She's back to laying again though and gave me an egg yesterday. Hopefully the person will show up here on Sunday afternoon to take her and 3 of her hen friend's with them. They are the last 4 that need's to be rehomed so that I can concentrate on my Aloha and NN Aloha project, and they can't have the darker colored leg's.

Thanks, I think the smite rod is coming out for some breaking. I have not heard the egg song today.

Understandable, I was just curios because of the hot weather what breeds would be the best choice Goats for down there?

In the Sothern states, cattle for instant, Brahma and Long Horns make one of the best choices for the hotter weather because of their thin skin over a black Angus or Red White Face breed that is better built for the Northern colder winter weather. :)

The best answer that I can give you for what type of goats that people have over here is this:

@416bigbore One of the hen's caught a mouse yesterday in the run, so got some extra protein. ;)
That is too funny, they are scavengers for sure when it comes to food. I have to laugh when one of ours, ducks more so then the chickens find a toad and try to eat it. Once they get that bitter taste in their mouth they leave it alone in the run and no one will touch it after that.

I have a few pics of one toad they found and they all took turns playing with it until they figured out it wasn't worth them trying to eat. Sadly the toad lay lifeless for a few minutes and then amazing can back to life and hopped away. I would have never guessed, but I seen it take place first hand! :gig

What get's me is that although people will feed the flock meal worm's, and know that they will eat bug's, still try to insist that chicken's are vegetarian's. They are not, they are omnivores just like people are.

Opportunists for sure, now sense passing up a free meal! :D
