How is your flock today?

Well, my flock now has one of those goat trough feeder's that hook's over the fence. I bought 2 of them from TSC, but only hung one of them over my horse panel railing that makes up my chicken run. Had to place a bit of wood boarding behind it to make it a tighter fit over the railing. I didn't put the metal top thing on it though. This is the one here:

Wow that looks really useful! Honestly I've been looking into making a diy feeding through for the chooks when they're fully grown using some piping and such since I have a cage-style run I'm building for them.
Speaking of my birds the ducklings really enjoyed getting to swim and play outside today, and one of my Pullets has decided that my hand is now the only place she'll roost.

These aren't that expensive, and several chicken's can eat from it at the same time. Maybe I should hang up the other one and put water into it?

I don't see why not really, guess it'd just depend on how easy it is for your flock to drink from it

They shouldn't have any problem drinking from it as long as it is hung on the railing that is at the right height, and put something under it to help hold it up and keep it from slipping because of the liquid weight from the water.

My flock is great except...

Guess what? I have a nocturnal chicken :D !
Her name is Bawky, she is an RIR hen and every night before I lock the chickens into the coop, I have to go out and search the run for her. This evening, while all her sisters were on the roost bar, I noticed she was missing (yet again) and went to look for her. It was hard to see b/c it is dark here, but I saw a dim shape scratching around in the corner of the run. i picked her up and put her on the roost, she gave me that look, "but i dont wanna go to bed!! Im not sleepy!😣" The first time she did this, I didn't notice she was missing, and she spent the night outside:rolleyes:.

A hungry hard working girl! She is probably one of your best layers.
