How is your flock today?

Pics
Hello, Thanks for posting and letting us know your flock is doing good. :) Glad to hear your new Roo is being nice to you and his new girls. What breed is he, any pics to post?
He is actually a barred cochin, and while I might let him have one batch of chicks, I don't plan on him being long term :p Cochins were an experiment, and we got a good flock protector out of it, and he can help raise the blue australorp roo we are getting in the spring :)

I could separate them but how old do the chicks have to be in order to be with the adult chickens? The small chicks have access to under the coop and it is covered with chicken wire from everywhere except for a small hole so the chicks can get out to be with the adult chicken and they can run back in anytime they want

A pullet usually starts laying at around 5 1/2 to 6 month's old.
