How late in the season do you hatch till? Or do you never stop??

I am not a chronic incubator chicken hatcher! I'm only on my third batch this year

But in my defense, my daughter talked me into it and we modified the goat shed for the meat chickens and i see

possibilities.

I have two heat lamps in there and its insulated sooooo I think my last hatch will be hatched out by the first of August.

I also plan to sell day old chicks next spring, so exciting, will have to see how that goes

How late in the summer is too late to ship eggs? I read somewhere that eggs can start developing around 80 degrees?

I usually hatch up till September. It depends really, on how many young birds I have to grow out. Last year I went up to mid september and had a heat lamp on those youngsters all winter.

I am doing my last hatch right now - only because the humidity is so high without water in the incubator. I also have no room for anymore chicks. I will start again next year, though!

It's about mid 90's that they start- but them temp has to be consistant, most places it cools down at night. The problem shipping in hot weather is the eggs get transported from point A to point B in trucks. From the PO to the airport, airport to the postal hub, hub to your local PO etc, how hot is it inside your car this afternoon. Not good for hatching eggs.
We sent out our last batch until this morning unless the weather breaks but in a way i'm kind of glad to be done with it. We have been shipping eggs since Jan.

That is what I was thinking! I am on the receiving end though. I was going to wait another couple weeks, but decided it might be too hot, so I am getting my last shipments this week (it is suppose to be cooler the next couple days). I hope this hatch is decent! I had 36 eggs from 3 different listers, 21 made it to lockdown, 14 hatched and I think I have too many roos (although they are only a week old).

For me up on the West Coast it is more about rain than temp. throughout the winter. I like them to be able to get outside for fresh air and forage asap and rain+chicks is not a good combination. My hubby build a beautiful (it really is beautiful) new coop that is raised so they can go underneath for rain and shade but they don`t and they don`t come back inside the coop without our encouragement when it rains. We had an unusually cold spring and I had the brooder lamp in for my 6 week olds until this past weekend.
So...we are undecided about hatching after this current one (due to hatch June 26th) although I might have to hide the bator from hubby who has the bug!....well maybe just one more hatch.

my Australorps. I also have BA/Americauna EE`s (aka "the mutts") and they are such a lovely combination. Good solid bird with nice character. Not much veriety in our flock so next year I hope to branch out a bit and try some new breeds.

I have been hatching since January. Right now I have ducks hatching and 56 banty eggs in the incubator due July 4th. I plan on stopping in August or September and then not starting up again until after the holidays.
