So I got a rooster and Bought him some "laying hens". I have had them for a week now. They are happy and healthy, free ranging 24/7 in the yard free to come and go from their coop as they please. How long should it be until they start laying again after relocating? Starting to question if they were actually actively laying when I purchased them

They are actually pretty large. They seem very happy and calm. This is a picture of them in their new 12x12 nesting boxes. Just worried because I have been burned a lot buying through fb

Hi. When you got them, did you confine them to the coop for a few days before letting them free range? Have you put a couple of golf balls or fake eggs in the nests so they know that is where to lay their eggs? If not, they could be laying now, just laying out anywhere they choose. Good luck and enjoy your flock!

I brought them in the coop and the rooster showed them to stay there as he sleeps in the corner. No nests anywhere, 100% positive they have not layed any eggs

Could just be my device, but they seem a little pale to me. Anybody else think so? What are you feeding? Do they have both oyster shell and grit available to free-feed at all times? I'm jealous, the poop board over your nesting boxes looks so new and clean! 😆
