How long after their faces turn red?!

I feel like I've been waiting FOREVER for this sweet girl to start laying!! (EE eggs are the most exciting/anxious to wait for! ). Her face turned red around two weeks ago, and I'm just so dang hopeful every time I walk down to the coop!

Should be aaaannnnyyyyy day now! Has she been chicken-wauling by any chance? Not the ‘egg song’, but a more drawn out ‘FA-FA-FA-FAAAAAAAAA-FA-FA-FA!‘ sound? Sorry, hard to describe . My Polish, Sylvia, was chicken-wauling up a storm one day last year and I thought, Gee, I bet she’s gonna start laying today (and she did ).

I've actually never heard her make a peep! She's a very subdued lil lady.

My little CiCi is pretty quiet, too. But if your girl has been checking out the nesting boxes, she’s getting close!

Have you checked her pelvic spacing? This is another thing that will change close to the time she'll begin to lay. These are all merely clues as she's gonna lay whenever she lays . Of course I truly mean this in the most kind way. It seems like the more anxious we get, the longer we wait. I'm over here impatiently waiting on a flock to begin laying too, so I'm right there with you. My older girls are starting to lay more so I'm not without eggs, I'm like you, EXCITED to see these new eggs and their colors

This isn't any kind of tried and true sign, but I notice my girls will start laying near egg size poops in the day/s before their first egg. Of course that's not always the case and it's probably just a silly observation on my part. It's just something I noticed with a few of my girls. Also, like others have mentioned, my girls will become extra chatty and seem to talk and bawk about everything in the days leading up to that first egg. Please update and let us know when she lays. I'm so excited for you!

Poops definitely get much larger once laying.
