I have a barred rock mix (either with Jersey Giant or Austrlorp) and two days ago we fonally got our first egg ever! I’m curious when we can expect the second one From her? We have three sisters so I’m not sure who laid it, but I have my suspicions. They are 20 weeks old. Thanks! (The white frizzles are the same age but I’m really not ever expecting eggs from them, they are so tiny anyway lol).

From each individual bird it can take 2 days to two weeks after the first egg to get the second. It is a combination of age and change in day length. This time of year in the northern hemisphere, sexual maturity happens earlier than in fall and mid winter.
It will be easier to determine if ovulation is imminent by checking the distance between the pointy pelvic bones.
