I've looked at a lot of website and cant find a direct answer. Say if I went out of town for two nights and came back - could I eat the eggs that are layed?

Thanks

Depends. If it's really hot out, I wouldn't eat anything past a day (2 max), but with cool weather, I wouldn't worry a bit. A lot of people here keep eggs on their counter for a week.

only 2 days.....I wouldn't worry. I have found nests that were, I don't know how old and had to crack them in a cup to test before hand. If you have any concerns......some people put them in cool water and if an egg floats, it is old. It hasn't been warm even in the deep south the past few days, so depending on your location, you should be very safe.

Hi,

With the weather as it is now, I wouldn't worry about the eggs, they should be fine. EXCEPT if you have a broody that insists on keeping them warm all the time!
