I was going say in my house, about 2 minutes. My poor hubby wouldn't have a chance.

when I was fresh out of high school (yeah.. THAT long ago) I worked retail sales.. we got in valentines candy in June.. to hold on to until the following february... yup.. JUNE

when I asked my supervisor why.. she said we always got product into the warehouse at least 6 months before the holiday.. and the manufacturer could have made it up to 6 months before that .. so I don't think you have anything to worry about

our main concern was any candy that had nuts in it.. cause if we held on to it for too long it would "go buggy" from the insects that had laid eggs on the nuts .. I remember a customer bringing back candy that had nuts in it that had gone buggy.. we opened up three cases (all were about 6 months old according to the dates stamped on the cartons) and all of them had gone bad with bugs

normally the candy would have stayed at the warehouse a bit longer.. but they had sent us several pallets of candy early

Milky Way candy bars are good FOREVER.

Of course, forever in not a very long time for chocolate
candy in the Spookhouse.

I like chocolate...it gets eaten first. The lesser candies I do
not like...I eat them in the order of "which ones if the ones
I don't like, I like best."

End result, I eat it all.

Spook

Ewww, I did not know bugs laid eggs on processed food. It doesn't die in the factory when they make the candy?

Ever wonder what the crunch in fig bars is? It's either seeds, or wasps. Truth.

Same here, I have my favorites to go thru first and then down the line with least favorites. Last ones usually are the Sweet Tarts.

they are in the food before it's processed.. like nuts.
Even flour that you buy for baking is loaded with bug eggs. The eggs are the same size as the ground flour particles so they can't separate it out. So if the flour sets around too long, the eggs hatch and it "goes buggy".. even had Bisquick go buggy before since the flour in it isn't cooked
