How long can an egg stay in the coop before it goes bad?

hi. not all of my chickens lay in nests yet. everyday i find an egg in the same spot in the coop by the nests, and yesterday i didnt find one there, i thought maybe the chicken covered it some and i looked around but couldnt find any. today i got more than one egg in there, and one of them was half covered, so im thinking it might be yesterdays egg. if so its been in the coop for 24 hours, is it still good? how long can an egg stay inthe coop before it goes bad?

Eggs stay fine for ages. It could be in there for a week or two and still be fine. Last summer we found a flowerpot with 6 or 7 eggs in it and they were all perfectly fine

Thanks I had the same question. I had 1 egg hidden for 24 hrs.

I only sell my prettiest eggs. The ones that are questionable, like is it three days old, or has alot of poop on it, goes into a carton marked "broken", and when I have a dozen eggs, I boil them up and mash then when cooled and feed them shell and all back to the girls for a protein treat.

As long as they haven't been under a brooding hen for a few days, they will be good for several weeks--even in warm weather.
