Ok, that sounds like a plan. I don't know if it'll help you for future orders or not, but between my first chicks I got from the feed store and these that I ordered, I bought a couple more than I actually wanted just in case they all didn't make it. Of course my first flock all made it so now I have five extra birds but I managed to make accommodations for them. Chicken math is alive and well in me. If I keep going at this rate I'll have chickens in every corner of my yard.I know how your feeling. this is my first time ordering from a hatchery and I'm a nervous wreck. mine ship out April 11 and I live in California. They are express shipping from Ohio. I ordered all the way back in January and I've waited so long it will just kill me if they don't make it. I have one of a very rare breed and if I loose her she can't be replaced ;(. They won't be hatching any more...sigh...I feel sick with worry. please pray for my chicks and I will pray for yours!
Thanks realsis! I'll be rootin' for you on the 11th. Let us know when they arrive..
I certainly feel a lot better. My chicks took roughly 36 hours to get from CA to MO if that helps.
Did you happen to order from Metzers? My ducklings from Metzers are shipping today and I too would like the day off to be as hasty as possible getting them to the brooder. I'm one state closer, over here in central Kansas.
Yes, 6 days is too long. They should get to you within 3 days. Even from the mainland to Hawaii they arrive by the 3rd day.My new chicks were shipped on 2/10. The post office said to expect delivery on 2/16. Should I expect an arrival of dead chicks?
