Question for you all. How long do you let your bator heat up or stablize before you put your eggs in?? I have an lg and the book says 6-8hrs. I have heard lots of diffrent things...wondering how you do it.

I have a home made bater and i let mine stay stable for about three days. For a good bater my sister-in-law lets hers go for a day just to make sure.

Same here 24-48 hrs

after about 6-8 hours the temp should be stable...the thing that throws off the temp is the EXTERNAL TEMPS! If it is in a room with a stable temp the bator should be stable, if the room temps fluctuate the bator temps will also. put it in a room with stable temps and all will be ok.

I found that my temp varied a great deal with humidity. Once the humidity dropped, the temp would sky rocket. Also, factors such as people moving about the room during the day but not at night and the way my heat ran really effected it. Personally, I would go a day or more just to be sure.

Thanks everyone. I have been stable temp for about 24 hrs. I have 4 themometer and they all read diffrent. One (digital...i use for humidity) reads 101.1, i have two aquarium themometers 1 reads 99ish and one reads 98ish, and then i just have a little plastic one that reads 101-102ish. So how do i know what my temp is?? I have a still air.
