How long does it take for a pipped quail egg to hatch?

Wow!! The first quail just hatched right on day 18 and it was not from the egg that had pipped in fact another one. One hour ago it was just an egg without a pip or anything and when i came to look in the incubator i saw this tiny tiny little chick. I’m so amazed cuz it hatched from a supermarket egg!!

My first pipper has yet to be the first one to hatch. I'm up to hatch #17 now.

Can you get some grippy shelf liner or paper towels in there? Those holes look kind of big for the chicks.

My quail started pipping on a Wednesday and all 7 hatched together two days later within four hours of each other. I could hear them peeping and tapping those two days, but mine weren't in an incubator. I probably wouldn't be able to hear them if they had been in a container, since they weren't very loud. (Mine were in a shoebox with a lamp for heat.)
