How long does it take for hens to eat a bag of food

Are the 4 hens standard sized or bantam birds? Are they eating just feed or are they out foraging for a good part of the day? How old are the birds?
Generally speaking, a mature large fowl hen is expected to consume 1/4-1/3 of a pound of feed per day - which would translate to .11-.15 kg per bird, per day. Meaning that four such birds would consume roughly .44-.6 kg of feed a day. If those figures ran true, a 20 kg bag would last a little over a month and a 5 kg bag would last a little over a week.
Depending on your feeder you may see your actual weekly feed consumption be higher or lower when factoring in things such as feed waste.

I don't actually have my hens yet which was why I was asking and I have been researching for a year and never came across a clear answer to this
I'm not too sure on sizes but they're either going to be all LF or 2lf 2bantams as I'm hopefully getting 2silkies and 2 Araucanas but on the website it doesn't mention anything about the size
However Polish have really got me wanting some this week after finding our more about them.ducks have too

My run is 180 sqft but on concrete which is why Im going to try and add certain things and give them many scraps and stuff like that. From what you said I take it a 5kg bag is a nono

The 5 kg bag isn't a no no. If you happen to travel by your feed supply every week and like to stop in and maybe pay more, it could work for you. It will be fresher on the whole. Feed will be best under most conditions for around six weeks and can good for several months. The time its' good will vary depending on the conditions it is stored in.

Not necessarily - just depends on how often you want to buy feed and whether the larger bag would offer a "per kg" price that would make it worth it to you to buy over the smaller bag....also to consider is storage. Ultimately, just a matter of deciding for yourself which size bag is the right one for you and your situation.
