How long does selenium gel last?

So I'm prepping for my goats getting ready to kid.
I had some selenium gel I bought over a year ago. And I was curious how long its lasts because I dont understand the expiration date. All it says is "1978'

I don't think minerals expire.

It's in a gel form. I looked at the gel and it's an orange or reddish color.

If you have any questions about a product, any product, call the manufacturer. They will have a customer help line. If you can't find it on the package you ought to be able to find it online. That said, I have had no experience with selenium gel nor do I know anyone who has. I just always used BoSe and I gave my baby goats and baby calves an injection of it soon after they were born.
